Rosyth on Fife's southern coast faces broad blue water and an industrial skyline, where cranes and pale dockside buildings rise beyond reflective shallows beneath soft cream clouds.
On the Forth shore south of Dunfermline, Rosyth developed with its naval dockyard and a garden city planned for workers' families. The new base became operational in 1916, binding the settlement's growth to maritime engineering and the strategic role of the estuary.
A low jetty crosses the blue water on heavy vertical supports, with a broad quay extending from the right. Beyond it stand large sheds, small cranes and a tall blue lifting structure. Grasses and pink flowers soften the near bank under a pale evening sky. The flowering vegetation suggests summer, and warm cloud edges contrast with the cooler reflections around the dock structures.
