Carlo Carrà, a figure associated with the development of Italian modernism, produced Pescatori during his transition away from the radical experimentation of Futurism. By the mid-1920s, Carrà moved towards the Novecento Italiano style, which sought a return to order and a re-engagement with classical traditions. This work reflects that shift, prioritising structural clarity and a sense of permanence over the kinetic energy of his earlier output.
The composition features two fishermen positioned on a shoreline.
