In the foreground, the defeated princes are shown kneeling on the steps, offering keys as a sign of surrender. To the right, armed guards stand in attendance, their presence providing a contrast to the submissive posture of the supplicants. The scene is framed by heavy drapery and architectural elements, which create a sense of theatricality common to the Baroque period.
