Beskrivning
Loch Trool in Galloway lies below gold mountain slopes and wooded shores, with small tree-covered islands, bare branches and rust-coloured ferns beside blue water on a bright autumn day.
Within Galloway Forest Park, this freshwater loch sits among native oakwoods below the Merrick hills. Its shores are associated with Robert Bruce's victory in 1307, when his forces ambushed an English army on the steep ground beside the water.
Across Loch Trool, two small wooded islands rest close to the opposite bank. The mountain above carries gold grass and exposed grey rock, rising beyond a thick belt of trees. Bare branches frame the right edge, with rusty ferns at their base. Blue water remains gently rippled under bright cloud, giving the scene the cool clarity of late autumn.
