Beskrivning
Loch Enoch in Galloway reflects soft white clouds below a rocky mountain, with heather beside pale shore slabs and still blue water in the clear light of late summer.
East of Merrick and south of Mullwharchar, this upland freshwater basin occupies granite country in the Galloway Hills. Its small islands and beaches are distinctive features, and the sharp local sand was historically collected for sharpening knives and scythes.
The still surface of Loch Enoch mirrors cream-white cloud beneath a broad mountain flank. Grey crags interrupt the green slopes across the water, descending towards a low uneven shore. Pale slabs lie close to the foreground, beside dark red and green heather. The clear reflections and warm vegetation suggest a quiet late summer morning before wind disturbs the loch.
