The composition is contained within a square frame, a choice that forces the viewer to focus on the geometry of the figure rather than the surrounding environment.

Behind the sleeping figure, a glimpse of the Mediterranean Sea is visible, reflecting the golden light of a summer day. A branch of oleander, a plant known for its toxicity, rests near the top right corner, adding a layer of ambiguity to the scene.
