Beskrivning
Epping centres on red-brick town tower, giving the scene a settled town-centre character The composition gives its outline room to stand apart, while surrounding details keep the view recognisable to returning visitors.
The leafy branch at upper left frames cream and brick façades. Their tiled roofs step towards the road, while the tower breaks the roofline near the centre. White clouds cross the blue sky, bringing bright afternoon light to the street. The varied upper windows and shopfronts gather everyday Epping architecture into one continuous view.
Anyone who knows this town can return to the familiar roofline and tower, set here against the open sky. In the artwork, the foreground frames the middle distance and leaves the far edge visible. This arrangement helps place the scene in its setting, while the changing light gives the colours a clear relationship to the land and water.
