This etching, titled Le Sommeil (The Sleep), is a reproduction by the Belgian printmaker Léopold Flameng, based on an original sketch by the French painter Pierre-Paul Prud'hon. Published in the Gazette des Beaux-Arts in 1870, the work captures a scene of quiet repose. The composition depicts a reclining female figure, often identified as Psyche, resting under a canopy while surrounded by winged putti.

Prud'hon was known for his soft, atmospheric approach to Neoclassicism, often favouring chiaroscuro effects over the rigid lines of his contemporaries.
