Crabs and Peonies - Itō Jakuchū

This work by Itō Jakuchū demonstrates the artist's mastery of ink wash techniques applied to a gold-leaf ground. Jakuchū, a prominent figure of the mid-Edo period, often turned his attention to the natural world, observing flora and fauna with a distinct, analytical eye.
