Castle Stalker stands on a tidal islet near Appin in Argyll and Bute, its compact stone tower rising from Loch Laich where sheltered water meets the wider Loch Linnhe landscape.
Near Port Appin, the tower house occupies a rocky tidal island in Loch Laich, an inlet connected with Loch Linnhe. Associated with the Stewarts of Appin, it became roofless in the nineteenth century before the Allward family undertook extensive restoration during the 1960s.
Castle Stalker dominates its small green island, with steep stone walls, a pointed corner turret and an external stair. Blue water carries a broken reflection towards the foreground rocks. Low islets and layered mountains stretch behind the tower. Sunlit grass and full foliage suggest summer, while white clouds and cool distant blues balance the warm stonework.
