This work depicts a central Buddha figure in a meditative posture, seated upon a large, multi-petalled lotus throne. The composition follows traditional iconographic conventions, where the figure is framed by a circular halo and a larger mandorla, suggesting a divine presence. The artist employs a dark, monochromatic ground, which allows the lighter ink tones and gold accents to emerge with clarity.
Jiang Jun utilises a refined technique, balancing the weight of the central figure with the decorative elements of the throne and the surrounding floral motifs. The lotus, a symbol of purity in Buddhist thought, is rendered with attention to the individual petals, providing a stable base for the seated deity. Small, gilded details are applied throughout the piece, catching the light and drawing the eye to specific ritual objects placed at the base of the throne.
