Ben More Assynt in the Highlands opens a high mountain panorama of pale ridges and blue corrie lochans, with scattered snow patches emphasising the exposed scale of Sutherland’s uplands.
Ben More Assynt is Sutherland’s highest mountain, reaching 998 metres in northwest Scotland. Together with neighbouring Conival, it forms the only pair of Munros in Assynt. Walkers cross quartzite stones and scree between the two summits, entering a landscape shaped by the great thrust faults of the region.
A field of pale angular boulders slopes towards a lingering snowbank on the left. Beyond it, a steep banded crag rises above a small dark blue lochan, with more pools scattered among rounded ridges. Distant peaks fade into blue haze. The mixture of bare stone, yellow green ground and residual snow suggests late spring sunshine high above the glens.
