Beschrijving
St. Bees Head on the Cumbrian coast presents tall red cliffs against open blue water, with a distant white lighthouse above the grassy edge and small sheltered coves.
Between Whitehaven and the village of St Bees, this headland supports northwestern England's only colony of seabirds nesting on sea cliffs. Fulmars, guillemots and kittiwakes are among the birds associated with the reserve, which looks out towards the Isle of Man.
Red rock faces step down to narrow grey beaches at St. Bees Head. White foam outlines the cliff bases, and darker blue bands extend across the sea. A small white lighthouse stands well back on the green plateau. Close grasses and white flower heads catch the light beneath a clear, summery afternoon sky.
