Beschrijving
Saddleworth in Greater Manchester looks past tall gritstone towers towards a blue reservoir, with purple heather, pale slopes and distant moorland catching warm light below the softly clouded evening sky.
The exposed Trinnacle rock formation stands in the Peak District near Oldham, above the wider Dove Stone landscape. Its tall natural pillars rise around thirty feet, forming a conspicuous landmark within the moorland country near Greenfield on the national park's western edge.
At Saddleworth, split stone columns rise sharply from a steep slope dotted with purple heather. A narrow stream winds through the valley below towards a long blue reservoir. Pale grass and dark rocky seams stripe the opposite hillside, with a small distant settlement beyond. Warm highlights and lengthening shadows suggest an evening in the later weeks of summer.
