Beschrijving
River Shiel in Highland Moidart reflects a pale stone bridge beneath gold evening clouds, with leafy banks and soft purple mountain ridges surrounding the quiet water at the height of summer.
River Shiel carries the natural outflow of Loch Shiel towards the sea at Loch Moidart. Beginning near Acharacle, it runs for about four kilometres through the boundary country between Moidart and Ardnamurchan. Salmon and sea trout use this short connection between the inland freshwater loch and the western coast.
Three broad stone arches span lavender water, their piers and curved openings reflected in long gold streaks. Leafy trees frame the crossing above a sloping bank of tall grass and dark bushes. Farther back, open fields lead towards overlapping purple mountain shoulders. Peach cloud banks and full green foliage suggest the gentle warmth of an unhurried summer evening beside the river.
