Beschrijving
Mealaisbhal (Lewis) in the Outer Hebrides rises beyond rust and gold moorland, with a pale twin-rutted track leading towards its grey rocky summit beneath warm clouds and a blue evening sky.
The highest hill on Lewis reaches 574 metres in the Uig district on the island’s western side. Known by several spellings, Mealaisbhal is approached from Brenish. Heather covers much of its lower ground, giving way to boulders and rock nearer the summit.
A pale track crosses the foreground in two parallel ruts, narrowing as it passes through the open heath. Gold grass and rusty shrubs cover the broad slopes below a prominent grey peak. Its upper face rises more sharply than the rounded flanks around it. Cream clouds catch warm light against blue, giving Mealaisbhal (Lewis) a late-day glow.
