Beschreibung
On Unst in the Shetland Islands, a winding burn crosses the pale sands of Burrafirth beneath green headlands, with a distant radar dome marking the rounded hill beyond the bay.
Burrafirth Beach sits in northern Unst, reached by the road beyond Haroldswick. The Loch of Cliff lies beside the approach, while Saxavord’s radar site overlooks the coast in the background. This is one of the island’s main beaches, with an open shore enclosed by grassy slopes.
Turquoise water threads across the cream sand before meeting a brighter blue sea. Angular rock faces break through the green headland on the left, echoed by the cliffs across the bay. Small pale buildings and slender masts cluster around the distant dome. White cloudbanks stretch above the rounded hill, softening the clear summer light.
