Beschreibung
Sandsend on the North Yorkshire coast sits at the end of Whitby's long beach, where twin becks meet the shore below wooded slopes and a low projecting headland.
West of Whitby, Sandsend marks the end of an almost three-mile sandy beach. Two becks run through the village to the sea, and paths beside the streams lead into wooded valleys, linking the coastal settlement with the shelter of the land behind.
Wet sand reflects a broad blue sky beneath towering cream clouds. Two small blue boats rest above a shallow channel, with pale houses gathered along the left seawall. Beyond them, green slopes end in pale cliffs and a low headland. Flowering grasses soften the foreground. Full foliage suggests summer, while long strips of white surf trace the bay.
