Beschreibung
Red Screes in Cumbria rises in a sweep of snow-streaked crags above a narrow valley, with green lower slopes and distant blue water beneath a clear, cloud-dotted sky.
This Lakeland fell stands beside Kirkstone Pass, southwest of Hartsop in Cumbria. Its steep slopes rise above the route through an upland landscape of high ridges and lower valley ground, where the winding road provides a clear sense of the surrounding relief.
Snow covers the upper face of Red Screes in broken white patches, with dark rock and blue shadows defining the hollows. Green slopes fall steeply towards a winding pale road and a small stream. Beyond the valley, blue water appears between wooded hills. Cream clouds brighten the sky, while lingering snow above fresh grass suggests a clear day in spring.
