Beschreibung
Kent faces the Channel in a long line of white chalk cliffs, seen across deep blue water from a ferry rail beneath a generous stretch of cloud-filled coastal sky.
Facing the Strait of Dover and France, this part of the south-eastern English coast is defined by white chalk cliffs. Their rock was deposited during the Late Cretaceous, with dark flint streaks interrupting the chalk, and some faces reach around 350 feet in height.
In this view of Kent, the pale cliffs form a nearly continuous band beyond blue water. Green turf caps the rock, with a tiny white tower breaking the horizon. A ferry railing cuts diagonally across the foreground beneath an orange lifeboat at the left. Bright light and calm-looking water suggest a clear summer crossing, keeping the distant coastline sharply visible across the Channel.
