Beschreibung
Framlingham Castle in Suffolk carries centuries of power and royal history, its pale ruined walls rising above deep green earthworks with countryside and water opening out beyond.
Framlingham Castle was built in the twelfth century by Roger Bigod and later became a home of the Dukes of Norfolk. Mary Tudor was here when proclaimed queen in 1553, giving this Suffolk stronghold a central place in the story of the succession.
A tall wall fragment occupies the right side, its rough stone warmed by sunlight and pierced by narrow openings. Grassy banks fall sharply into a deep hollow, where pale paths curve around the earthworks. Trees stand above a strip of blue water in the middle distance. Fresh green slopes and clear light suggest late spring or summer, with cloud shadows adding depth to the folds of ground.
