Beschreibung
Buttermere in Cumbria reflects steep green fells across still blue water, with a small white hillside house and rust bracken beside a shaded shore path in bright early autumn afternoon light.
This western Lakeland lake lies in a valley that also contains Crummock Water and Loweswater. High fells rise closely around its shores. A largely level circuit follows the water’s edge, passing Sourmilk Gill and a Victorian tunnel cut through rock beside the lake.
Buttermere spreads still blue water below a steep fell marked by dark rock scars. A white house sits among trees on the far green slope, above a single shoreline tree. Pines edge a low point on the left, mirrored beside the mountain reflections. Rust bracken grows along the shaded near path, suggesting an early autumn afternoon after the clouds have broken.
