Beschreibung
Atholl in Perthshire surrounds a white turreted castle with dense green woods, below gold hills and purple heather in the soft glow of an orange late summer evening sky.
Atholl’s historic landscape includes Blair Castle at Blair Atholl, near the meeting of the rivers Garry and Tilt. Comyn’s Tower, the earliest surviving part, dates from 1269. The Stewarts and Murrays developed the castle over generations, with a major Georgian transformation beginning under the second Duke in 1740.
White towers and stepped gables rise from dense green woodland beneath rolling gold hills. Long dark tree belts divide the upper fields, while taller conifers stand at the sides of the castle. Grey rocks and purple heather occupy the near hillside. Orange clouds illuminate the open sky, suggesting a mild evening towards the end of summer across the wooded strath.
