South Ronaldsay in Orkney reflects a pale waterfront village across turquoise water, a small white boat and orange buoy floating below green fields on a bright summer afternoon.
South Ronaldsay lies among Orkney’s southern islands, with St Margaret’s Hope providing a sheltered harbour and ferry gateway. The Churchill Barriers connected it with Burray and the Mainland during the Second World War. Beyond the village, coastal walks cross an island of farmland and sea views.
Pale stone houses and white gables line the opposite shore, their red and grey roofs repeated in still blue-green water. A single small boat floats near an orange buoy. Dark tidal rocks edge the foreground below white flowers and grass, while low green fields rise behind the village under a broad sky filled with high summer clouds.
