This exquisite miniature, attributed to the artist Mushfiq, originates from a manuscript of the Panj Ganj, or Five Treasures, by the poet Jami. Produced during the early seventeenth century, the work reflects the synthesis of Persian artistic traditions and the specific stylistic developments of the Mughal court. The composition is structured around a multi-level architectural setting, a common device in Persianate painting to depict simultaneous narrative events within a single frame.
The scene displays a high degree of technical precision, particularly in the rendering of the figures and the surrounding decorative elements. The artist employs a refined palette, using mineral pigments and gold leaf to define the garments, the architectural tiles, and the floral motifs. The figures are depicted in profile or three-quarter view, characteristic of the period, with attention given to the subtle gestures and expressions that convey the narrative tension of the scene.
