Burbage in Wiltshire has strong ties to the Kennet and Avon Canal, with a brick wharf building and timber crane reflected in warm water under a glowing evening sky.
Burbage lies in Wiltshire's Vale of Pewsey within the North Wessex Downs. North of the village, the Kennet waterway passes through Bruce Tunnel before reaching the former wharf farther west, reminders of the canal's importance to local transport.
Across still water, a modest red brick building stands beside a large timber crane, its angled beams reaching high above the bank. A broad tree fills the right side and smaller roofs appear to the left. Peach and amber clouds colour the water, breaking the building's reflection into soft horizontal bands. White flowers and long leaves edge the foreground, suggesting summer near the end of the day.
