Beschrijving
Settle in North Yorkshire sits below limestone crags at the edge of the Dales, where pale houses, a pointed church spire and railway arches rise among trees beneath open uplands.
The crag of Castleberg overlooks Settle, a working market town beside the limestone country of the Yorkshire Dales. Narrow alleys and courtyards run among its historic buildings, many dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with the seventeenth-century Folly adding an older landmark.
Warm light touches pale roofs and walls across a tree-filled valley. A pointed spire rises on the left, and a short row of railway arches appears behind the nearer houses. Above them, a wooded crag catches the sun beneath long green slopes. Full foliage suggests summer, while peach and mauve clouds lend the scene an evening glow.
