Beschrijving
Hardraw in North Yorkshire is known for the single drop of Hardraw Force, where white water falls into a shadowed pool beneath layered rock and a crown of green woodland.
Just north of Hawes in Wensleydale, Hardraw Force falls through a wooded ravine on Hardraw Beck. The waterfall has a drop of roughly 100 feet and lies within the grounds of the Green Dragon Inn, beside the village of Hardraw.
One white column descends through the centre of a broad rock amphitheatre. Horizontal beds curve around the dark pool, their pale upper faces contrasting with the shaded recess behind the falling water. Boulders occupy the near bank, and yellow-green trees lean over the rim. Full leaves suggest summer, while soft daylight reaches the upper cliff more strongly than the enclosed water below.
