Beschrijving
Ayr in South Ayrshire reflects warm stone bridge arches across blue water, with red roofed riverside buildings and leafy banks beneath cream clouds in the soft sunshine of a summer afternoon.
Ayr’s Auld Brig crosses the River Ayr near the historic town centre. Built between the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, it has undergone major repairs, including extensive work completed in 1910. The old crossing remains an important historic feature of the town’s river corridor.
Warm stone arches span blue water below red roofed buildings and a steep church roof. Their reflections form broken gold and cream bands across the gently rippled surface. Small decorative lamps rise above the bridge parapet, with leafy trees and a low wall along the far bank. White flowers beside the near grass suggest a mild summer afternoon on the river.
