Her attention to the textures of the fabric and the cold surface of the marble demonstrates her technical skill. The marble pedestal features a diamond pattern in warm tones, which provides a visual break from the cool green of the wall.\n\nThis painting helped establish Anguissola's reputation as a portraitist before she moved to the Spanish court of Philip II.
