Andreani was a master of the medium, often reproducing works by other painters to disseminate their compositions to a wider audience. In this print, he employs several woodblocks to build up layers of tone, creating a sense of volume and depth through the interplay of light and shadow.\n\nThe composition depicts the biblical narrative of Christ healing the lepers. To the right, Christ stands as a central figure, his form defined by light and flowing drapery. He gestures towards the group of afflicted individuals on the left, who are rendered with expressive, contorted postures. The architectural background provides a sense of place, though it remains secondary to the emotional exchange between the figures. Andreani uses bold, calligraphic lines to outline the anatomy and the folds of the garments, while the subtle tonal shifts in the background blocks suggest a shallow, stage-like space.\n\nChiaroscuro woodcuts were highly valued for their ability to mimic the appearance of wash drawings. By using separate blocks for the line work and the various tonal values, Andreani achieves a sophisticated range of greys and browns. This print reflects the Mannerist interest in elongated figures and dramatic, theatrical gestures. The artist's monogram and the date are clearly visible in the lower right corner, a common practice for printmakers of this period to assert their authorship and the quality of the impression. The work remains a fine example of the technical skill involved in early seventeenth-century printmaking, capturing both the narrative intensity of the subject and the specific aesthetic qualities of the chiaroscuro technique.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cdiv style=\"margin-top:2rem;padding-top:1.5rem;border-top:1px solid #e5e5e5;\"\u003e\n\u003cp
