She is accompanied by two putti, the winged infant figures common in classical iconography. The artist employs a soft, tonal approach to the medium, using varied shading to define the contours of the figures and the surrounding foliage. The composition places the goddess at the centre, her gaze directed towards the flowers she holds, while the putti observe her actions with curiosity.

The print reflects the mid-nineteenth-century interest in classical themes, which were frequently reproduced for a wider audience through the medium of lithography. The technical execution demonstrates the capacity of the lithographic process to capture subtle gradations of light and shadow, particularly in the rendering of skin tones and the texture of the natural environment. The background features a gentle slope with trees, providing a sense of depth without distracting from the primary subjects.

Rittner & Goupil were active in the publication and distribution of fine art prints during this period, often collaborating with artists to bring academic and mythological subjects to the public. This work is characteristic of the period's preference for idealised human forms and allegorical narratives. The print is presented within a clean, rectangular border, a common framing device for nineteenth-century graphic works intended for collection or display. The attention to detail in the floral garlands worn by Flora and the soft modelling of the putti suggest a high level of craftsmanship in the original plate preparation. This piece offers a clear example of the aesthetic values prevalent in European printmaking during the era, focusing on balance, harmony, and the depiction of classical mythology.

You might also like

Flora by Francesco Bartolozzi
Saturn, Seated with three Putti Holding a Painting by Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0833/9292/1935/files/Badende-Flora-met-putti_Poster_CompositorV1_1791791328800.jpg?v=1791791628
